RESHAPE AND CONTOUR YOUR THIGHS
Thigh Lift Surgery in Oklahoma City & Tulsa
Loose thigh skin can remain after significant weight loss, aging or changes in skin elasticity, even when your weight is stable and you stay active.
A thigh lift, also called thighplasty, removes excess skin and reshapes the thighs to create smoother, better-proportioned contours. Dr. Patrick “Tyson” Blatchford will determine whether surgery, liposuction, Morpheus8 or a personalized combination is best suited to your anatomy.

When Loose Skin Needs More Than Fat Reduction
The appearance of the thighs may be affected by excess fat, loose skin, poor elasticity or a combination of concerns. Identifying the primary issue is essential because each requires a different approach.
Liposuction can remove localized fat when the skin is likely to adapt to the new contour. Morpheus8 may be considered for texture concerns and mild-to-moderate laxity. A thigh lift is intended for more substantial loose skin that cannot be removed with either treatment.

What Can a Thigh Lift Improve?
Thigh lift surgery may help address:
- Loose or hanging skin on the inner thighs
- Skin laxity following significant weight loss
- Poor thigh contours related to aging or genetics
- Excess skin that causes rubbing or clothing concerns
- A combination of loose skin and localized fat
- Imbalance between the thighs and surrounding body contours
During your consultation, Dr. Blatchford will evaluate your inner and outer thighs, skin quality, fat distribution and overall body proportions before recommending surgery.
A thigh lift is not a weight-loss procedure. The goal is to reshape tissue after weight has stabilized, not to produce a specific clothing size or thigh gap.
Inner Thigh Lift and Other Surgical Approaches
The location and length of incisions depend on where excess skin is located and how much correction is needed.
An inner or medial thigh lift focuses on laxity along the inside of the thighs. Some patients may require an incision near the groin, while more extensive laxity may require an incision extending farther along the inner thigh.
Patients with laxity involving other portions of the thigh may need a different or broader surgical pattern. Dr. Blatchford will explain the incision placement and expected scar before surgery.
Thigh Lift vs. Thigh Liposuction
Thigh Liposuction
Liposuction removes localized fat from areas such as the inner or outer thighs. It may be appropriate when fat is the main concern and the skin has enough elasticity to conform after treatment.
Thigh Lift
A thigh lift removes excess skin and may address some accompanying fat. It is more appropriate when skin laxity is too extensive for liposuction or skin tightening alone.
Combined Treatment
Some patients have both excess skin and fat. Liposuction may be combined with a thigh lift when clinically appropriate, but the treatment plan must protect circulation and support safe healing.
Thigh Lift vs. Morpheus8 Body
Thigh Lift
A thigh lift physically removes excess skin, making it appropriate for patients with advanced laxity after major weight loss.
Morpheus8 Body
Morpheus8 Body uses fractional radiofrequency microneedling to treat selected tissue at customized depths. It may be considered for texture, stretch marks and mild-to-moderate laxity, but does not remove a substantial fold or hanging skin.
Patients with advanced laxity after major weight loss may receive a surgical recommendation.

Candidates for Thigh Lift Surgery
You may be a candidate if you have excess thigh skin, have reached a stable weight and understand the necessary scars and recovery.
Candidates are generally adults who:
- Are in suitable health for surgery
- Have maintained a reasonably stable weight
- Have realistic expectations
- Do not smoke or will stop as instructed
- Can follow activity and incision-care restrictions
- Accept that visible scars may be necessary to achieve meaningful skin removal
If you plan to lose a significant additional amount of weight, Dr. Blatchford may recommend waiting until your weight is stable.
Your Personalized Thigh Lift Procedure
Dr. Blatchford or Dr. Reid will plan the operation according to the amount and location of excess skin, the presence of localized fat and the contour of the surrounding hips and knees.
The procedure may include:
- Removal of excess inner-thigh skin
- Repositioning and support of underlying tissue
- Liposuction of selected areas when appropriate
- Coordination with another body-contouring procedure
The surgical setting, anesthesia plan and whether procedures should be combined or staged will be discussed during your consultation.
Recovery and Scarring
Swelling, bruising, tightness, tenderness and temporary changes in sensation may occur after thigh lift surgery. Because the thighs are involved in standing, walking and sitting, following movement and activity instructions is especially important.
A compression garment may be recommended. Return to work and exercise varies according to the extent of surgery, the physical demands of your routine and how you heal.
Thigh lift scars are permanent. Their location depends on the surgical pattern and amount of skin removed. Dr. Blatchford will discuss scar placement before surgery and provide instructions to support healing.
Risks and Considerations
Potential risks include bleeding, infection, fluid accumulation, delayed healing, wound separation, visible or widened scars, asymmetry, contour irregularities, altered sensation, blood clots and the possibility of revision surgery.
Dr. Blatchford will review the risks associated with your personalized plan and explain the steps required before and after surgery.

Thigh Lift FAQs
Can liposuction tighten loose thigh skin?
Liposuction removes fat but does not remove loose skin. Patients with poor elasticity may need a thigh lift, sometimes combined with liposuction.
Where are thigh lift scars located?
Scar placement depends on the amount and location of excess skin. It may be limited near the groin or extend along the inner thigh when more skin must be removed.
Can a thigh lift treat cellulite?
A thigh lift may smooth some irregularity by removing and repositioning tissue, but it is not a guaranteed cellulite treatment.
Should I lose weight before a thigh lift?
Patients are generally encouraged to be near a maintainable, stable weight. Additional major weight loss after surgery could create new laxity.
Can a thigh lift be combined with a lower back lift?
Body-contouring procedures may sometimes be combined or staged. The safest approach depends on the extent of surgery, health and recovery needs.
How long is recovery?
Recovery varies. Dr. Blatchford will provide individualized guidance for walking, work, driving, exercise and compression garment use.
